What to Expect

Our services are relaxed and welcoming. Here’s a general idea of what to expect when you join us on a Sunday:

  • When you arrive, someone from our welcome team will greet you and help you find your way. Feel free to grab a seat anywhere, there’s no assigned seating. We want you to feel comfortable from the moment you walk in.

  • Each service includes a blend of the following elements:

    • Singing — a time of worship together through contemporary and traditional songs
    • Bible reading — we read from the Bible together as a central part of every service
    • A talk (sermon) — a short, engaging message that helps us understand the Bible passage and how it applies to everyday life
    • Prayer — we pray together as a church community
    • Announcements — updates on what’s happening in the life of our church
    • Kids' Church — during the 9:30 AM service, we have a kids programme
    • Communion (the Lord's Supper) on the first Sunday of each month we share bread and juice together to remember Jesus’ teaching and sacrifice.

There is no pressure to sing, read aloud, or take part in anything you’re not comfortable with. You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you like.

  • After the service, we love to connect over a meal. At our 9:30 AM family service, we have a morning tea, and after our 11:30 AM service we share a lunch together. It’s a relaxed time to chat, meet people, and ask any questions you might have. Don’t be surprised if someone comes over to say hello — our church family is friendly and loves to welcome newcomers.

  • Children are very welcome at Yagoona Anglican! Our 9:30 AM Family Service includes a dedicated Children’s Program for primary school aged kids that runs alongside the main service during school term. Kids head out to their own age-appropriate groups partway through the service, where they learn from the Bible through stories, activities, and games.

If you have younger children, you’re welcome to keep them with you in the service. We understand that little ones can be wriggly and noisy — that’s perfectly okay, we have a cry-room next to the auditorium where you can follow along. We’d rather have your family here than not.

  • We want everyone to be able to participate fully in the life of our church. We’re continually working to make our facilities as accessible and welcoming as possible. Here are some of the ways we currently support accessibility needs.

    Parking & Getting Here

By Train: We are a short 7 minute walk from Yagoona train station.

By Car: There is some parking available on the church grounds but plenty in the surrounding streets. If you need assistance getting from your car to the auditorium, please let us know in advance and we’ll have someone ready to help.

    Mobility Support

Our main auditorium is accessible via a permanent ramp, so wheelchair users and those with limited mobility can enter without navigating steps. Inside the auditorium, seating is flexible — chairs can be moved or rearranged to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. If you have specific access needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us ahead of time so we can make sure everything is ready for you.

    Hearing Support

Our auditorium is fitted with a hearing loop to assist those who use hearing aids.

    Other Needs

If you have any other accessibility requirements or questions, whether related to vision, sensory sensitivities, or anything else, please get in touch with us through our website or speak to someone on the welcome team when you arrive. We’d love to do whatever we can to make your experience comfortable and meaningful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some common questions, answered.

  • Come as you are! Most people dress casually — jeans and a t-shirt are perfectly fine. Whether you prefer to dress up a little or keep it relaxed, you’re welcome either way. Our focus is on getting to know you, not on what you’re wearing.

  • Not at all. Bible passages are typically displayed on screen during the service so everyone can follow along. There are extra bibles under the seats in front of you, if you prefer that, too. If you’d like your own copy, we’re happy to give you one, just ask someone on the welcome team.

  • There is limited parking available on the church grounds, but plenty in the surrounding streets. Arrive a few minutes early on your first visit and you’ll have plenty of time to find a spot and get settled.

  • No problem! Our 9:30 AM Family Service is livestreamed each week so you can join from home. Click here for our livestream

  • If you’re visiting for the first time (or the tenth!), there is absolutely no expectation for you to give financially. Our church is funded by the generous giving of our regular members. Just come and be part of our community.

  • Absolutely. Many people in our church are at different stages of exploring faith. We’d love to walk alongside you, wherever you’re at. No question is too basic and no doubt is unwelcome.
